Stitch in Time is a new initiative between Spotlight
and World Vision, which commences on November
1st 2006. In communities around the world, World
Vision works directly with people living in severe
poverty and/or crisis. The best way to help these
people and eradicate the causes of poverty is to
empower them; help them to begin their own
enterprises and break the poverty cycle. One such
proven ‘micro-enterprise’ is the creation and
equipping of women’s sewing groups. Spotlight
invites you to become a part of this exciting,
innovative and positive program.

To become a part of the program, bring your old,
but working, sewing machine or overlocker to any
Spotlight store in Australia, New Zealand or
Singapore. In exchange for your old machine,
Spotlight will give you a $75.00 discount coupon
that you can use to purchase any brand new Elna or
Brother sewing machine or overlocker.

Spotlight and World Vision will then gather the
donated machines, check their condition and

ship them to various offices of World Vision around
the world where these sewing groups will be
established. The sewing machines will be donated
to the women participating in these groups. The
initiative will enable these women to make clothes,
earn income and take control of their lives and the
lives of their families.

Spotlight’s aim is to be able to donate 1,000
machines to World Vision for this wonderful
program. We’re already part way there - Get
Creative magazine has generously donated 15
brand new Brother sewing machines. These
machines have already been despatched to
Cambodia and the results for the sewing program
that has been established is extremely positive.

Be a part of the Stitch in Time campaign - donate
your old sewing machine today! Help us to help
World Vision break the poverty cycle.
